Come As You Are: Episode 10

The one where I, YET AGAIN, become unhinged... talking about the patriarchy, MEN, women's healthcare research or lack thereof, perimenopause, MEN, and how I'm clearly not handling it very well... 😣

Happy Weekend, Lovecats!

I’m desperate to make it a happy weekend but when I filmed this yesterday (Friday, May 3rd), my mood wasn’t as such. In fact, I filmed three different versions… which were all way too angry and decided to go take a walk and when I returned, much calmer and with a new perspective, I hit record again AND STILL ended up frustrated, angry and in tears by the end.

And so, instead of trying to fake it or hide my true emotions or contain myself any further, I uploaded it because, let’s not forget the title of this series, Come As You Are, is meant to be a place that isn’t filtered or always pretty or hair perfectly in place. Instead, it’s a rebellion against all the things we’re told as women to always be; INSERT AMERICA FERRERA’S MONOLOGUE FROM THE BARBIE MOVIE HERE, because it encapsulates it all far more beautifully than I can at this moment.

"I'm just so tired of watching myself and every single other woman tie herself into knots so that people will like us. And if all of that is also true for a doll just representing women, then I don't even know."

I’m not sure where to go from here. I’m tired of fighting, but the rage inside me burns to tear it all down and I know I’m not alone… I know this because of the messages I’m receiving from so many of you and women all over the world, fueled with the same emotions, yearning for answers and solutions and even guidance through this!

Where do we turn if the “specialists” don’t even know? I guess it’s up to us… it’s all up to us and it has always been and I am grateful for all the women leaders who broke the barriers for us up until now. We are the future and honestly, that has been the fear of “MAN” and this entitled world we live in, where we’ve had to fight for every single privilege we have now because men were afraid of losing power… and honestly, they should be at this point, because we’ve all had ENOUGH!
