I'm not sure who needs to hear this but...
Project Positivity Journal Day 9: It's all Happening the way it's Supposed to.
Well, Lovecats, it’s still January, but we’re almost there… almost. there.
It’s a running joke (on my social channels anyway) that January has felt like the longest year ever, but somehow, it truly has felt like a lifetime.
What’s funny though is that we’re always so surprised at how quickly the end of the year is upon us, how it’s holiday season ALREADY, yet we all complain about how long one month feels.
I think it’s the feeling that time flies when we’re having fun, but since January has NOT been fun (for most) it has felt like it has dragged on and on and ON!
To cope (mentally) in times like these, I often use this saying to comfort myself: Everything is Happening Exactly the Way it’s Supposed To. For some reason though, when I wrote it in my journal today, it came out slightly different, but obviously it means the same thing.
For me, this saying is a reminder to breathe and relax into the now, to move with a little more patience, and also to lighten the pressure and perspective on whatever story I have wrapped up and around my current situation. It works for truly horrible and difficult and extremely challenging moments (like the worst possible things) and it also works for little tiny nothing moments (like traffic).
Obviously, this mostly goes for things that are well within our control, but also can help with the things we are upset about that aren’t in our control like say, the weather, or um - politics.
While it’s similar to the expression: Everything happens for a “reason”, “Everything happens the way it’s supposed to” doesn’t then beg the question WHY? or WHAT IS THE REASON? which, I like, because that WHY? can (and often does) take you down rabbit holes of darkness that tends to make everything far worse, leaving you stuck in a mental cycle of chaos and anxiety. However, my saying, creates a calm and relaxing sensation and allows you to release and to let it all go.
“Everything happens the way it’s supposed to” is basically saying - stop resisting what is, accept where you are in this very moment and stop trying to run towards something else. When you are ready, when the timing is right, all will align and fall into place, just as it should.. thus, it’s all happening the way it’s supposed to.
Happy Friday Lovecats! And guess what? Tomorrow is February. 😃
